Simplifying Therapy for DiGeorge SyndromeDiplomat supports patients throughout treatment.
DiGeorge syndrome, also known as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, occurs when a small part of chromosome 22 is deleted or missing during fetal growth. The result is poor development of some body systems. Symptoms can vary greatly. Patients can have partial symptoms (usually changes to the face), or severe problems that involve various important body functions.

What are the symptoms of DiGeorge syndrome?
DiGeorge syndrome can produce many different symptoms, depending on which body systems are affected. It can cause issues with the face, such as a cleft palate, heavy eyelids, low-set ears, or wide-set eyes.
More severe symptoms are internal: poor circulation, heart problems, delayed learning and speech development, and difficulty eating and gaining weight.
If you have DiGeorge syndrome, you might also have issues with your thymus gland, which makes cells that help the body fight infections. Your thymus gland might not make enough cells, making it easier for you to get sick.
